When you click ‘Analyse’ the SACU Personal Statement Checker will run a number of tests on your text. Depending on what it finds, any or all of the warnings below will be shown. Each of them can be clicked on to get additional information, highlighted transcripts and help.
Once you have clicked the button in the UCAS view section, the Checker tool will schedule your statement for a plagiarism test that will run overnight. Check back the following day to see if this warning icon has appeared.
The Checker will determine whether your statement has been written in the optimum structure and give guidance on this
The Checker will warn if your statement would go over the maximum length of 47 lines allowed in the UCAS Apply system.
The Checker will search for a number of common cliche’s and flag them to you with a highlighted transcript
Vary the position of I
The Checker will search for any sentences beginning with I and flag them to you with a highlighted transcript
The Checker will analyse the statement for the intensfier words you have used and provide a list with the corresponding count
The Checker will analyse the statement for repeated words used and provide a top ten list with the corresponding count. The number on the picture opposite shows the number of times you have used the most frequently used word.
The Checker will search for words spelt using the American dictionary and highlight these to you in a transcript
